At The Good Prep, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint, which is why you may have noticed we’ve switched our packaging. We know that as a meal prep company, we can make a difference on issues that are affecting our planet. No one has all the answers, but we’re always seeking solutions and on a constant mission to improve how we do things. After a period of trial and error with our packaging, we’ve found a solution that we feel is a great way to take further steps towards our sustainability goals.
We’ve partnered with WoolCool, who are revolutionising the insulated packaging world! Their recyclable and reusable fleece liners (and boxes) are ideal for keeping your meals at the right temperature and great for the environment.
Controlling temperature for fresh food delivery
The coolest thing about WoolCool? Their performance packaging keeps our nutritious, freshly prepared meals cool for up to 72 hours. We know what you’re thinking – wool keeps the food cool?! Well, this is why it’s magic! WoolCool packaging includes two elements: wool insulation and ice packs. The ice packs are used to take the box temperature down to the level it needs to be at, and the wool insulation keeps it there. The wool is wrapped in a film made from recycled material which is also recyclable.
We understand that wool isn’t a vegan product, however, this packaging solution offers an innovative way to use the abundance of wool that is around, meaning less waste.
We’ve made the decision to use WoolCool as other insulators were just not as effective or as sustainable – their packaging seriously outperforms everything else. After trying out most of the packaging solutions on the market, we’re confident that WoolCool is not only the best option to keep our meals fresh, it’s also currently the best for our planet.
WoolCool is the ideal packaging for our meals because:
✓ It has been rigorously tested and proven to keep food within the temperature ranges required by the Food Standards Agency
✓ The company is B Corp certified, which means they meet the highest standards environmentally
✓ Wool is a natural insulator and maintains the cool temperature needed to transport our fresh meals directly to your door
✓ It removes the need for refrigerated delivery vans (which are so not kind to the planet!)
✓ Wool is great to compost as it releases valuable nitrates back into the soil as it breaks down
✓ The wool is sustainable, recyclable, compostable and biodegradable. The food-grade wrap is also recyclable.
WoolCool say:
Wool is an amazing Smart Fibre: not only is it is natural and sustainable, but is a superior insulator. Why compromise on sustainability or performance when you can have both?
We agree!
