The UK alone waste 7.1 million tonnes of food (2017 WRAP research), and we throw away almost three quarters of food point – 70%! Food waste negatively affects the environment because of excess methane produced in landfill, and also ends up wasting nearly a quarter of our water supply in the form of uneaten food.
All our meals are pre-portioned, meaning zero food waste. Only purchase and receive the meals you will consume during the week, minimising risks of throwing away! And remember, you can always freeze our meals.
Here at The Good Prep we take our our environmental responsibilities very seriously, which is why we use Icertech for our outer packaging. Icertech supplies a range of packaging systems for secure and temperature-controlled shipping of chilled products.
Rather than simply putting our packaging straight into the bin, there are many ways you can reuse or recycle our products to get the most out of them. For example, our outer boxes are great for loft storage or moving house! Ice packs could be used for keeping your food / drinks cold when at the beach, or even as knee pads when gardening!
Please do reuse your boxes where you can! However, if you aren’t looking to re-use the Eco-Box, then please note that both the cardboard outer and paper liner can go straight into your cardboard/paper recycling. Even if you put it in the bin and it ends up in your general waste, don’t worry, it is completely biodegradable, and will naturally break down.
PP IML tamper-evident packaging is our sustainable choice.
A packaging solution that works with the current systems of recycling in the UK – one that is widely recyclable, as 99% of the UK has kerbside recycling collection.
Our in-mould labelled tamper-evident packaging uses the same material, polypropylene, for both the container and label, meaning it can easily be recycled in the UK.
PP has a carbon footprint 24% smaller than PET.
We are not able to pick up your box and reuse the packaging at the moment, but it is something are thinking about offering in the future. The box itself and most of the packaging ingredients can be recycled along with household goods, so please recycle or reuse where you can.
